A little more about me and my journey in massage therapy and bodywork. All my life, I have worked in management and in stressful job positions. And although I have enjoyed many of my employment opportunities, they have all reaped havoc on me emotionally, mentally, and physically. In March 2007, I was in search for a new career opportunity that would allow me to spend more time with my son and family. I also wanted something that would be fulfilling, rewarding, and allow me to help others. I enrolled in the Kalamazoo Center for the healing Arts.
With the 600 training hours, I learned all the necessary techniques that would allow me to practice massage...swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, pregnancy massage, reflexology, polarity, acupressure, myofascial release, and craniosacral therapy. I also learned how to take care of myself, so that I can take care of others through eastern medicine, tai chi, yoga, nutrition and wellness, and deep breathing. I completed the training with 60 hours of clinical experience, to help me get my feet wet in working with the public.
I graduated March 2008. Since then, I have had experience massaging both in my home and salon atmospheres and have decided to have my own office space centrally located in Kalamazoo. In September 2014, I became Licensed in Massage Therapy through the State of Michigan. In October 2015, I expanded my business and opened a wellness center in Portage. Combined with other multi-specialty wellness professionals, Creekside Wellness Center was born. Catering to clients to help them with all body and mind needs. Future plans include expanding my training in additional services and treatments, shows and expos, and volunteer opportunities. I don't want money to ever be a reason a person can't receive massage.
Being a massage therapist has allowed me to help others in their healing process as well as share my own personal healing experience. I have been able to do more of what I enjoy, like camping, music, and spending more time with my son and daughter. I am more content and relaxed and I look forward to what wonderful things lie ahead.
I look forward to assisting you in your healing.
